Our Story

Wooden You Know began as a request from our son to make him a Crokinole board. The result was so satisfying that we made another, and another, and now we’ve grown into a small business, with hundreds of custom-made boards under our belts.

 We create these boards in a woodworking shop just outside of Greenville, South Carolina. Each board is carefully hand-crafted and -finished - a process that involves more than 25 steps. Allowing for design, printing, finishing, and curing time, each board takes from six to eight weeks to build. Every Crokinole board we create is a custom order, with no two boards ever being exactly alike. 

Due to health issues and concerns, we have moved to a home with only one level. We are not able to move the business so we are not taking any new custom orders.

We don’t think we are done making wooden games though! We have made a few GO boards and are considering other options including Chinese checkers, chess, and a vertical chess board. If you are interested in a smaller wooden game of some sort, let us know and we will see if we can make one!

The GO board is a two sided board with the standard playing surface marked with 19 horizontal and 19 vertical lines. The opposite side is marked with 9 horizontal and 9 vertical lines for a practice board.
